Cada año, más de 30.000 artistas suben a los escenarios de los selectivos provinciales durante intensas semanas de actividad, unos 70 días, en el segundo semestre. Los 4.000 finalistas elegidos por los jurados locales llegan a la Plaza Próspero Molina de Cosquín para competir en las rondas finales del certamen, previas al Festival Nacional de Folklore.
Los ganadores de cada rubro reciben el privilegio máximo del folklore argentino: actuar en el Festival Nacional de Folklore de Cosquín — el Festival Mayor de América — ante miles de espectadores y con transmisión radial, televisiva y live streaming online para todo el mundo.
The Pre Cosquín is Argentina’s largest and most federal competition for emerging folklore talent. Organized by the Cosquín Municipal Folklore Commission, it brings together artists from across the country at 56 venues — from the North to Patagonia — to compete in folk music and dance.
Each year, more than 30,000 artists take the stage at provincial qualifying events during intense weeks of activity — some 70 days — in the second half of the year. The 4,000 finalists selected by local judges travel to Plaza Próspero Molina in Cosquín to compete in the final rounds, held just before the National Folklore Festival.
The winners of each category receive the highest honour in Argentine folklore: performing at the National Folklore Festival of Cosquín — the Grand Festival of the Americas — before thousands of spectators with radio, television and live streaming broadcast worldwide.
